The primary way to improve healthcare quality and patient safety is through mutual learning. This requires working to gether with patients, health workers, health administrators, policy-makers in line ministry institution, special programmes and provincial ministry institution involving spectrum healthcare workers.

Specific tools, checklist and practices which has been implemented in hospitals or other health care settings to increase the quality of care or improve patient safety can be disseminated using this space. Health institutions can learn from successful interventions and can implement their own institutions with necessary adjustment.

Sharing of best practices ensuring of Healthcare worker and Patient Safe - World Patient Safety Day 2021

Write ups of best practices for ensuring patient safety paying special attention to maternal and childcare were invited from island wide healthcare institutions. DHQS received 31 write ups on best practices (21 from line ministry institutions and 10 from provincial institutions). Each participant was requested to present their write up as an oral presentation via online platform and these were reviewed by an external panel of experts.

The best 3 practices from each of the two categories of institutions, line ministry and provincial institutions were selected and were presented at the National event held on 17th of September 2021.
